Engine connecting rod bolt (rod cap bolt) for the Caterpillar 3066 / S6K / C6.4 diesel engine family (also 3064 / C4.2) — a direct replacement for the original Caterpillar 094-7154. Thread M12x1.25, overall length 85 mm, grip length 58.5 mm, high-strength alloy steel. It clamps the connecting-rod cap to the rod and carries alternating tensile load.
The rod bolt is a critical engine fastener and a single-use item (torque-plus-angle tightened into yield). It should not be reused after removal because of the fatigue-fracture risk. Typical failures are stretching, thread damage and fatigue fracture; a broken bolt can wreck the connecting rod and cause major engine damage. It is normally replaced together with the rod bearings and piston assembly during an overhaul, tightened in stages to the manufacturer's torque and angle.
Supplied as a single bolt (high-strength alloy steel). Confirm the removed part number and dimensions before ordering; always fit new bolts and tighten to the specified torque and angle in stages — never reuse the old bolts.
