Aftermarket front crankshaft oil seal (lip-type radial shaft seal) 5I-7656A — a direct replacement for the Caterpillar 5I-7656 seal. It fits the Caterpillar 3066 / S6K / C6.4 diesel engine family (also 3064 / C4.2), commonly used on CAT 311B / 312C / 320B / 320C / 320D excavators. Outer diameter 95 mm.
The front crank seal sits at the nose of the crankshaft and seals the timing-cover side. When the lip hardens or wears, engine oil leaks from the front of the engine — oil is thrown by the crank pulley, the belt gets contaminated, and oil loss increases. It is normally renewed during a front-cover / timing service.
