Aftermarket connecting rod bushing (small-end / conrod bush) 5I-7539A — a direct replacement for the Caterpillar 5I-7539 rod bushing. It fits the Caterpillar 3066 / S6K / C6.4 diesel engine family (also 3064 / C4.2), commonly used on CAT 320B / 320C / 320D excavators.
The rod bushing carries the piston-pin end of the connecting rod. When it wears, the small end develops radial play — typical signs are a knocking under load, low or fluctuating oil pressure, and in severe cases a seized or scored piston pin. It is normally renewed together with the big-end bearings during an engine overhaul.
Bimetal construction: a steel backing with a copper-alloy (bronze) lining, machined to the oil clearance. Confirm the removed bushing number and the measured bore before ordering; measure the connecting rod bore because an oversize bush may be needed after a rod re-bore.
