Exhaust valve seat insert (30 mm outside diameter) for the Caterpillar C4.2 / C6.4 diesel engine — a direct replacement for the original Caterpillar 305-4884. It is pressed into the head to give the exhaust valve a hard, heat-resistant sealing surface.
Exhaust seats work hottest and are prone to recession, pitting and burning; a worn seat loses compression and can drop a valve. Replaced during head work when the seat contact is too wide or the seat is cracked.
Supplied as one seat. Confirm the engine model and seat diameter before ordering; fit to the specified interference, cut/lap the seat angle and check valve stem height.
