Exhaust valve (144 mm long) for the Caterpillar C4.2 / C6.4 diesel engine — a direct replacement for the original Caterpillar 294-1685. It opens to expel burnt gases and closes against the seat to seal the combustion chamber. Pairs with the intake valve 294-1684.
The exhaust valve runs hotter than the intake, so it is more prone to burnt seats, tuliped heads and cracking, causing loss of compression, white/black smoke, misfire and power loss. Replaced at head overhaul or when the valve face no longer seals.
Supplied as one valve. Confirm the engine model and dimensions before ordering; check guide clearance and seat contact and lap/replace the seat as needed.
