Aftermarket piston pin retainer (snap ring / circlip) 5I-7667A — a direct replacement for the Caterpillar 5I-7667 retainer. It fits the Caterpillar 3066 / S6K / C6.4 diesel engine family (also 3064 / C4.2), commonly used on CAT 311 / 311B / 311C / 312B / 320B / 320C / 320D excavators.
The retainer fits in a groove at each end of the piston pin bore and stops the pin from moving sideways. If it is missing or fatigued, the piston pin can drift and score the cylinder liner — a catastrophic failure. Always renew the retainers when a piston or liner is replaced.
Spring steel snap ring with plier holes, 36.5 mm free diameter. Confirm the removed ring number and the pin groove before ordering; fit with snap-ring pliers and check the ring is fully seated in the groove.
