Engine piston assembly (with piston pin and clips, standard STD) for the Caterpillar 3066 / S6K / C6.4 diesel engine family (also 3064 / C4.2) — a direct replacement for the original Caterpillar 297-7753. Bore diameter 102 mm, forged aluminium alloy, finished crown with a coated skirt. The piston reciprocates in the cylinder, takes the combustion load and transfers it to the crankshaft. Same family as 297-7750A (different machine application: this part is mainly for the 320C series).
The piston is a core engine wear item. Typical failures are ring-groove wear, skirt scuffing / wear, crown burning and pin-bore wear, causing piston slap, blow-by, high oil consumption, power loss and low compression. It is normally replaced as a full set (with the pin, clips and rings) during an overhaul or when the liner is re-bored / replaced.
Supplied as a single assembly (piston + pin + clips; rings supplied separately). Confirm the removed part number, the bore diameter (102 mm) and the compression height before ordering; observe the piston orientation marks and the pin-to-rod fit, then check the liner clearance and ring end gap after assembly.
