Cylinder head gasket for the Caterpillar C6.4 / 3066 diesel engine — a direct replacement for the original Caterpillar 294-1682. Fitted between the cylinder block and the head to seal the combustion chambers, coolant passages and oil galleries.
A critical sealing component: under high temperature and pressure it can blow out and burn, causing gas and fluid leaks — abnormal coolant loss, milky oil, bubbles in the radiator, low compression and power loss. Replaced during head work, an overhaul or after an overheating event.
Supplied as a single gasket. Confirm the removed number and engine model before ordering; clean the faces, check flatness, use NEW head bolts and follow the torque/angle procedure.
Abnormal coolant consumption, milky/emulsified oil, bubbles in the radiator or overheating, white smoke, low compression, power loss, oil and coolant mixing.
Installation Tips
1. Clean block and head faces; check flatness and for cracks.
2. Fit the gasket dry as specified (no extra sealant on MLS gaskets).
3. Use NEW head bolts, tighten in sequence in stages to torque + angle.
4. Refill coolant, warm up, check for leaks; re-check after the first heat cycle.
